FolderZoom Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 9, 2026

The short version

The FolderZoom app does not collect, store or send any personal data. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising network and no tracking. What you do with your files stays on your Mac. The website, folderzoom.com, uses Google Analytics to count visits (see "The website").

In App Store Connect's privacy questions the answer is "Data Not Collected".

What stays on your Mac

FolderZoom keeps its own settings in ~/Library/Application Support/FolderZoom (in the app's container for the Mac App Store edition): your preferences and keyboard shortcuts, your favorites, the view you chose per folder (for up to 500 folders), the folders you opened lately, and the tabs to reopen. These files contain folder paths. They never leave your Mac, and deleting the folder removes them all.

FolderZoom writes nothing into your own folders: no hidden settings files are left behind on disks, shares or USB sticks.

Access to your files

FolderZoom shows and changes files only where you, through macOS, allowed it to. It reads file names, sizes, dates, tags and contents solely to show them to you (lists, previews, folder sizes, search) and to carry out what you ask (copy, move, rename, compress, delete). None of this is sent anywhere.

When something does leave your Mac

  • Purchases. FolderZoom Pro is bought and restored through Apple's App Store. Apple processes the payment and tells the app only whether you own Pro. We never see your name, Apple Account, address or payment details. Apple's privacy policy applies: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
  • "Send to" an assistant app, Share, Open With. When you choose one of these, macOS hands the files you selected to the application you picked. What that application does with them is governed by its own privacy policy.
  • Servers you connect to. "Connect to Server" asks macOS to mount the share. macOS asks for the name and password; FolderZoom never sees them.
  • Writing to support. Help › Contact Support prepares an email in your own mail application, with a dated report attached; Help › Send Diagnostics Report does the same, and without a mail application saves the report as a file for you to send yourself. It holds the versions of FolderZoom and macOS, the kind of Mac, whether Pro is active, the names of the disks you allowed, FolderZoom's own log of the last seven days, and the newest crash report macOS made, if there is one from the last 48 hours. The log lists the commands you used by name and what went wrong (this can include folder paths), never what you typed. You see all of it before you send it, you can remove the attachment, and nothing is sent unless you press Send. What you send us is used to answer you and to fix the problem, and is deleted when that is done. On your Mac, the log keeps seven days and crash reports the newest five for up to 90 days, in the settings folder.

FolderZoom itself makes no network requests. It has no updater: the App Store updates it.

The website

folderzoom.com uses Google Analytics (Google LLC) to see how many people visit and which pages they read. It loads a script from Google, which records the pages you view, where you came from, your browser and device, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. Its cookies, which recognize a returning visitor, are set only as you choose: a banner asks on your first visit, and Cookie Settings at the bottom of every page changes your answer. In the EU and EEA, the United Kingdom and Switzerland no analytics cookies are set unless you choose Accept; elsewhere they are set unless you choose Reject or your browser sends Global Privacy Control. Without cookies Google receives only cookieless signals without an identifier. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use Google's advertising features; nothing from the website is linked to the app. Google's privacy policy is at https://policies.google.com/privacy. Google Analytics keeps this data for 14 months at most.

The web server also keeps the usual access log (address, time, page) for a short time to keep the site running. When you use the contact form, your name, email address, message and attachments are sent as an email to our support mailbox through Mailjet (Sinch Mailjet, a mail delivery service), which processes them for that purpose only; its privacy policy is at https://www.mailjet.com/legal/privacy-policy/. The form itself stores nothing. We use what you send to answer you and to fix the problem, and delete it when that is done.

Children

FolderZoom is a general-purpose tool and does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children.

Your rights

We hold no data about you unless you wrote to support; ask us and we delete that correspondence. Website statistics are held by Google Analytics as described above. If you have a question about this policy, write to us.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes and the new version is published at the same address.
